Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won another award to take his individual tally of awards to two for the year. He has been named ICC Cricketer of the Year for 2022 after a stellar year. He scored 2598 runs in 44 matches at an average of 54.12 with eight centuries and 15 half-centuries. No other player could surpass the 200-run barrier in international cricket in 2022.
Babar is the he first Pakistan player to win back-to-back ODI Cricketer of the Year awards and also the first Pakistan player to win two ICC awards in the same year. He is the first player since Virat Kohli in 2018 to win ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year and ICC Cricketer of the Year at the same time. He is also only the second Pakistan player after Shaheen Afridi in 2021 to win ICC Cricketer of the Year award.
